Everyone is exactly like me.
There is no one like me.
The rough fabric of my cotton nightgown chafes so I lie very still. They say my discomfort comes from being built like one accustomed to niceties. How is that fair when I myself have never experienced anything but copies of the real thing?
My entire life is an imitation.
I am an Imitation.
I’ve been here five years. Training. Preparing. Waiting.
And now I have a letter.
My assignment has begun.
I am a prisoner.
I am not Raven Rogen.
I am here to die.

My writing of Imitation coincided with a very important
event for me… my first ever motorcycle ride!
From the moment I felt the rush of speed on the back of that
bike, I knew that’s what Linc would drive. Since then, I’ve ridden an enduro
(on/off road), dirtbike, cruiser, and sport/street bike. In December, I bought
my first motorcycle—a Honda CBR 600—and in February, I completed the rider
safety course and got my motorcycle license.
Since then, I’ve sold my CBR (although I could ride it, I
feel more confident with something smaller for now) and gotten a Suzuki 200
enduro. (And I love the idea of riding in the dirt!) When I took that first
motorcycle ride, I had NO idea I would love it as much as I do. It’s so much
fun and I never get tired of the feeling of being on a motorcycle. For those
moments, I am free. Of problems and stress and anything real life. There is
only me and the machine and the wind.
Every single thought and reaction Ven has in Imitation is
directly out of my own journal and/or thoughts as a result of riding. And
Linc’s image wouldn’t be accurate without a kickass bike. I suspect he rides
something similar to this:

Cool...that sounds intriguing. She's been bred as an imitation for whom, for what??? She's been trained to become what...a killer, a hunter, again...argh I just don't know. I definitely can't wait to read this book now. Oh, and I looooove the cover page!!!!!
